If you need a good cry, this is it.

It Ends With Us, by Colleen Hoover covers so many important and difficult topics and it does so with honesty, depth, and compassion.
Whilst it's not the typical genre I read, this book truly touched me in ways I didn’t expect. There were paragraphs that hit so close to home I had to pause and breathe. Some even felt like answers to questions I’ve carried, about the choices we make, and why we stay in places we know we shouldn't.
The story explores domestic abuse, emotional trauma, homelessness, the desire to help the ones we love, and the heartbreaking complexity of trying to break cycles that feel impossible to escape.
It captures what it means to pretend things are ok, to hide behind hope, to fool yourself into believing things might change because love is there, even when safety or happiness isn’t.
So many of the conversations and internal thoughts in this book are incredibly realistic and deeply moving.
The emotional honesty, especially in the last few chapters, left me feeling empty, speechless, and raw in the best and hardest ways.
There’s so, so much in this book and it's more than a love story. It’s about survival, growth, and the bravery it takes to end a cycle.
I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a powerful, emotional, and important read.
Amazon Synopsis
‘In the future . . . if by some miracle you ever find yourself in the position to fall in love again . . . fall in love with me.’
Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. And when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life seems too good to be true.
Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.
As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.
With this bold and deeply personal novel, IT ENDS WITH US is a heart-wrenching story and an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.
Question:
My favourite character, by far, was Allysa because there's one thing she says in chapter 29 that made me respect her so much. Have you ever related to a character so much? Comment below.
