I'm Arti Manani, author of dark domestic thrillers, professional overthinker, occasional houseplant rescuer, and someone who spends an alarming amount of time asking, "But what if the worst possible thing happened?"

A Bit About Me

I recently realised that many readers have the same questions about me, my books, and how I ended up writing stories full of secrets, lies, dysfunctional relationships, and people making very bad decisions.

So, I've created a dedicated FAQ page where you can find answers to everything from what kind of books I write, to which book you should start with, and even whether I really design my own covers (I do!).

Fun Facts

Here are a few quick facts about me that you won't necessarily find elsewhere:

I was born in London, and after 35+ years, moved to Bedfordshire in 2025.
Alongside being an author, I also work in marketing.
I'm happily married to a wonderfully supportive fellow creative. My husband is a scriptwriter and filmmaker. Many of my story ideas are discussed with him way before they ever make it onto the page.
I love houseplants, although keeping them alive is an ongoing challenge.
I enjoy working out, mostly because it helps balance out my other hobby (eating Bounty bars and anything with coconut).
I have a UV allergy. Yes, it's a real thing. Yes, it's as inconvenient as it sounds.
I often use my own fears, anxieties, and worst-case scenarios as inspiration for my books, just turned up several notches for entertainment purposes.

My Writing Journey

Interestingly, I didn't actually start out writing domestic thrillers. My first books explored supernatural thriller and action crime territory. However, over time, I found myself becoming more and more fascinated by domestic suspense and psychological thrillers. The idea that ordinary people can be capable of extraordinary things intrigues me. So that's where I feel most at home.
